ALEXANDRIA, Va., December 17, 2009 – In a resounding show of unity, members of Boat Owners Association of the States (BoatU.S.) are in near universal agreement of what gift they don’t want from Santa for Christmas this year: their front teeth.

In a multiple-choice opinion poll of the association’s more than half-million power and sailboat-owning members asking for their Christmas gift wishes, just 5.5% said they wanted new front teeth. “Clearly, there are more important things to boaters,” said BoatU.S. spokesman Scott Croft.

So what do they want? A new Global Positioning System (GPS) was the #1 choice with 22% of all votes, while “a new boat” and “foul weather gear,” came in second and third, respectively. Additionally, a remarkable 36% admitted they had been bad and would expect nothing from Santa this year.

“From this data we can assume that ‘good’ boaters don’t like being lost, and also enjoy being aboard shiny new boats in the rain,” added Croft.

BoatU.S. advises that the poll’s methodology is completely unscientific and has a margin of error of + or – 100%. However, on the eve of the holiday season the crew at BoatUS wishes you a very Merry Christmas, joyous holidays, and safe boating for you and your family in the new year.
