After two days of the BASS Northern Open, we caught up with Skeeter / Yamaha Pro Mark Burgess and he brings us the lowdown from Champlain.  Largemouth are dominating the tournament going into the third day. “If you are going out to fish tomorrow, you would need two rods– one with a jig, and one with a frog.”  The largemouth seem to have locked-on to the typical summer pattern, keying on shallow grass. “The thing with Champlain is you have to practice both small and largemouth because you never which one is going to be “on”.”  History shows you can do well with smallmouth, but largemouth win tournaments.  Mark expects to see more big bags on Saturday.

Dave Wolak leads the field after day 2.  For full results and information, visit bassmaster.com
