When & why did you begin bass fishing? I’ve fished since I was about 4, but began tournament bass fishing at 13. I worked at a tackle shop and even though I was too young to compete, I used to tag along with the owner’s son to tournaments. During practice I always caught more than he did, so I convinced the tournament director to let me fish.

What has been your most memorable moment when it comes to fishing so far? Finishing 5th in the 1992 All-American. At the time I was 21. I think I was the youngest ever to qualify for an All-American at that point and I consider the 5th place an achievement, but those aspects were not why it was memorable. The memorable part was that I fished flawlessly. Tournaments where you cast perfectly, never lose a fish and are just in “the zone” are few and far between. It’s been 17 years and I still remember the way I fished in that event.

Biggest catch; when, where & how: 9-9 largemouth in November on a mill pond on a jig.
Name someone who is a hero to you & would like to meet someday? In the world of bass fishing, I have been lucky enough to meet and/or compete against all of my hero’s.

What would it mean to you to win the 2010 TBFNC in Knoxville, TN? An opportunity to go back to fishing full time.
