KILGORE, Texas, December 3, 2009 – Skeeter dealers, Bassmaster Elite Series professional anglers, industry insiders and grassroots tournament anglers nationwide are buzzing about the company’s recently introduced FX Series, featuring Yamaha’s revolutionary new VMAX® SHO™ four-stroke engines.
In an industry first, Skeeter engineers were able to design the FX Series in tandem with Yamaha’s VMAX SHO, giving Skeeter an edge in the development of a new hull, running surface and deck.

A select group of Skeeter dealers from across the country recently had the opportunity to test the FX21 and FX20 first-hand at Yamaha’s test facility in Bridgeport, Alabama.

“The FX Series is exactly what our dealers were looking for leading into the 2010 boat show season,” says Ben Jarrett, Skeeter’s National Sales Manager. “We gave our dealers the ‘wow’ factor that each needs to drive traffic and potential Skeeter owners into their dealerships,” added Jarrett.

Ken Hollis, owner of Airport Marine in Alabaster, Alabama describes the FX Series as “awesome.” “The hole shot on a fully-trimmed motor is incredible, and the entire boat/motor package has everything that current bass boat owners are looking for in a new boat – a quick hole shot, good shallow water take offs, excellent top-end speed and fuel efficiency. Folks won’t believe you can get this type of performance from a bass boat with a four-stroke engine,” says Hollis.

Additionally, several Team Skeeter professional anglers also had the opportunity to run the FX Series for the first time. Skeeter’s Alton Jones, Kelly Jordan and Dean Rojas spent time on the Tennessee River running the FX Series.

“The FX Series will make it more difficult keeping up with the Jones’s next season,” says Bassmaster Classic Champion, Alton Jones. “I’m blown away by this boat/motor combination, as this isn’t simply an advance in boating technology, it’s a quantum leap for the entire marine industry. In my 20 years as a BASS pro, I’ve never seen anything like it.”

Skeeter’s Kelly Jordan agrees with his fellow Skeeter teammate, adding that, “the FX Series is a continuation of the Skeeter product, which is the best running and fishing platform available. The FX Series screams ‘Let’s Go Fishing!’”

According to Jarrett, production has already begun on several FX Series models for Team Skeeter anglers participating in February’s Bassmaster Classic on Lay Lake outside of Birmingham, Alabama.

“The 2010 Bassmaster Classic will definitely be a coming-out party for the FX Series, and the huge audiences attending the Classic, as well as those watching on television, will get to see the high-end performance of the next generation of bass boats,” says Jarrett.

Jarrett indicated that Skeeter is in the process of planning a nationwide demo tour, giving boaters and anglers the opportunity to feel the Skeeter difference. “As a BASS sponsor, we plan to utilize the 2010 Elite Series events as a way to showcase the FX Series,” he added.
Skeeter’s next generation of bass boats, the FX20 and FX21, was designed specifically to run with exceptional performance when combined with Yamaha’s new VMAX SHO 200 hp, 225 hp and 250 hp engines. Skeeter increased the size of its sponson area an additional 1.7 cu ft, the equivalent of removing two batteries from the boat. Next, Skeeter designed wider and sharper strakes along the running surface to provide lift and deflect water for more speed, better turning ability and a smoother ride. These innovations lead to a dry and stable ride, with no chine walking and no backwash.
