A glorious day awaited the participants of the 5th DelMarVa qualifying tournament on the Potomac River June 22. The morning was overcast and the winds were light making for a great day of fishing.

Kevin Simpson and Steve Davis culled numerous fish to arrive at their total weight of 14.82 pounds…good enough for 3rd place plaques.

Kody Bradbury and Ricky Bodsford had a limit within the first half hour of the tournament. Representing Legend Boats, they claimed 2nd place with 15.82 pounds and shared the big bass honors with Stephen Griggs and Rodney Sorrell. Each team weighed in a 4.81 pound bass.

Ken Wood and Brian Swall were victorious for the second time this season as they caught 16.36 pounds of bass to seal the victory. It did not come without pain, however as Ken buried a treble hook in the base of his thumb at 8:00AM. Unable to remove it, he and Brian cut it off leaving only enough for the doctor to locate it. A few ice-cubes later and ken was back in action for the rest of the day fishing and netting Brian’s bass as well.

They were presented plaques and $1000 in prize money.

The next DelMarVa tournament is at River’s rest on the Chickahominy River July 13.
