As noted on BassBoatCentral.com, the new Yamaha SHO VMax, a soon to be released 4 stroke outboard dubbed the “Game Changer” seems to be quite impressive after industry insider testing. A member of BBC quoted the following on the site: “
It’s quite an engine. No it’s not supercharged, but it is SHO (stands for Super High Output) Weighs 34 lbs less than HPDI 250. The
Skeeter ran 79 as best I recall. I was more interested in the Ranger Z520 performance because then I could compare apples to apples. 13% better mpg than HPDI. The hole shot is fantastic and mid-range acceleration is awesome. This motor definitely changes the “Game”. Reliability is the only question and only time will answer that.
Ranger Z520 77 mph 250
Ranger 621 60 300
BassCat Puma 79 225″
Others have noted similar reports after an unveiling to manufacturers early last week. The Yamaha SHO VMax is set to be released on November 20, 2009 at www.yamahagamechanger.com
