The third annual TTBC/PAA event kicks off this Friday at Lake Conroe, Texas and will feature not only the best anglers in the world competing in the inaugural Championship, and their share of the $500,000, but also a number of events that will entertain the fans of bass fishing.

But don’t think that if you can’t make it to Montgomery, TX you’ll be missing the event.  The PAA is pulling all the stops for this event and will have full media coverage that starts with 5 TTBC stories posted each day on www.fishpaa.com along with television coverage that will air on CBS as a Sports Spectacular November 21, 2009.

“We’re not holding anything back,” Kurt Dove, the PAA secretary said. “For this event we’ve hired two of the premier writers in the industry, Pete Robbins and Terry Battisti, to come down to the event and cover all the action.”

“Pete and Terry will be providing the readers of fishpaa.com not only coverage of the tournament and the anglers but also what’s happening behind the scenes,” he said.  “They’ll have two morning stories that will cover the launch and all the interesting dock talk prior to the day’s competition, a mid-day story that will cover the event as it unfolds on the water and then two evening stories – one that will talk about the tournament action and another about the personal stories unfolding throughout the event.

“We’re really excited to be able to bring the fans up-to-date coverage of the event this year and we hope they stop by the site to check out what’s happening all week long.  We think you’ll feel like you’re in the front row.”

The 3-day event consists of the top 40 anglers from the Carrot Stix PAA Tournament Series, presented by Phoenix Boats, along with the top 20 anglers determined from the PAA Tour Point standings established from finishes in the BASS Elite, FLW Tour and FLW Series.  Opening ceremonies begin at 7:25 a.m. Friday morning at Papa’s on the Lake and will conclude with musical guest Josh Turner after the 4:00 p.m. final weigh-in on Sunday.

The full field of 60 anglers will fish the first two days of the event and the final day will consist of the top-10 anglers after two days of competition.  The winner will be determined by the heaviest 3-day accumulated weight.

As with the prior years’ Toyota Texas Bass Classics, the event is a conservation oriented tournament were each fish caught, over 14 inches, is weighed on the boat by a judge and logged onto their weigh slip.  Each boat is provided an I.G.F.A certified Boga Grip scale for this purpose.  The anglers, along with their judges, will then present their weigh slips to the weigh master on stage for verification and log their weight.  Each angler is also allowed to bring in one fish over the 21-inch minimum length to weigh on stage.  The emcee for the event will be bass fishing’s funny man and the host of television’s Fact’s of Fishing, Dave Mercer.

Each day of the event the Texas Parks and Wildlife will feature an Outdoor Adventure Area along with a Sponsor Expo located at the Main Event Location 1 mile east of TX HWY 149 on TX HWY 105 in the city of Montgomery.
