ICAST is packed with companies competing for attention. Every aisle is filled with new colors, redesigned packages, updated products and promises of the next big thing.
But at ICAST 2026, GSM Outdoors did something different.

GSM did not arrive with one headline product or depend on a single brand to carry its booth. It attacked the show from every direction with a deep collection of respected fishing brands, an aggressive lineup of new products and a product-development strategy built around what serious anglers are actually doing on the water.
That combination made GSM one of the most dominant forces at the show.
Strength in Numbers
The first advantage GSM brought to Orlando was sheer brand power.
The company operates a massive outdoor portfolio containing more than 40 hunting, fishing and outdoor labels. Within fishing, GSM controls several brands with established identities, including Yamamoto Baits, Big Bite Baits, Bill Lewis Lures, Buckeye Lures and others.
That depth matters at ICAST.
Most manufacturers must generate attention around one product category. GSM can introduce finesse plastics, crankbaits, jerkbaits, jigs, spinnerbaits and other tackle under several recognizable names.
Instead of asking anglers to believe in an unfamiliar company, GSM can place new ideas inside brands that already have credibility.
Yamamoto has decades of history in soft plastics. Bill Lewis is one of the most recognizable names in hard baits. Big Bite Baits has built a strong following in affordable, tournament-proven plastics, while Buckeye Lures has earned its reputation through jigs, spinnerbaits and technique-specific tackle.
Together, those brands gave GSM a presence that was difficult to ignore.
GSM Brought Real Products, Not Just New Packaging
Plenty of ICAST releases amount to a familiar bait in a different size or color.
GSM’s 2026 lineup went considerably deeper.
The company arrived with products designed to address specific fishing situations, including the Yamamoto Uni Mas, Bill Lewis Brush Crank and Big Bite Baits Flat Tube. These were not random additions created simply to fill catalog space. Each product was built around a clearly defined presentation or problem.
Bucaa Brand introduced the Ultimate Glide Bait for Finicky Herring Eaters!
The Uni Mas expanded Yamamoto’s presence in the exploding urchin-style bait category. Its compact body, high-density plastic and numerous appendages were designed to create a natural fall while maintaining movement around suspended fish.
That was important because urchin-style soft plastics generated some of the biggest interest across the ICAST 2026 show floor. The category was so prominent that major retailers organized dedicated coverage around dice, urchin and fuzzy-style baits.
GSM was not reacting from behind. Yamamoto was already positioned inside the trend and continued evolving the concept.
The Brush Crank Solved a Real Problem
The Bill Lewis Brush Crank was another example of GSM building a product around a specific fishing need.
Deep-diving crankbaits catch fish, but many are difficult to work through submerged brush without constantly hanging up. The Brush Crank was developed specifically to navigate that type of cover while maintaining its action.
The bait was tested with forward-facing sonar, allowing the development team to watch how it contacted, deflected and traveled through underwater cover.
That is an important distinction.
Forward-facing sonar was not merely used as a marketing phrase. It became part of the development process. GSM’s team could watch the lure work underwater, identify weaknesses and adjust the design based on real-time performance.
That is how modern electronics should influence lure development.
The Flat Tube Offered Something Different
Big Bite Baits also delivered one of the more interesting finesse concepts with the Flat Tube.
Traditional tubes have been catching bass for decades, but the Flat Tube changes the bait’s profile and fall. Its flattened body produces a gliding action as it initially descends through the water.
According to GSM’s development team, that initial glide was responsible for the majority of strikes during testing.
The bait is a perfect example of GSM’s approach at ICAST 2026.
The company did not completely abandon a proven category. Instead, it took a familiar concept, identified an opportunity and changed the design enough to create a different action.
That balance between tradition and innovation ran throughout GSM’s lineup.
Fishermen Were Driving Product Development
Another reason GSM stood out was the involvement of experienced anglers in the product-development process.
The company’s fishing brands rely on tournament professionals, product managers and experienced fishermen to test concepts and determine which products have legitimate potential. GSM Product Development Manager Jack Dice explained that the team was not simply chasing every trend. It was evaluating overlooked ideas, combining them with modern materials and extensively testing them on the water.
That approach creates products with a purpose.
Anglers can usually tell when a lure was designed in a conference room. It may look good in the package but lack the small details that determine whether it performs in real fishing situations.
GSM’s strongest releases appeared to start with the fishing situation first.
What does the bait need to do?
How should it fall?
How should it move through cover?
How will it appear on forward-facing sonar?
What problem will it solve that existing products do not?
Answering those questions before designing the packaging gives a product a much better chance of surviving after the initial ICAST hype disappears.
GSM Covered Nearly Every Major Bass Category
GSM’s ICAST strength was also visible through the number of products appearing across the 2026 retail landscape.
New releases included the Big Bite Baits Flat Tube, Orbix
and Gillateen Swimbait
; Buckeye Flow Hair Jig
, Dumpster Diver Jig
and Propwash Spinnerbait
; and Bill Lewis Brush Crank, Snap Stik 110
and Real Gizz.
That is a wide range of techniques and categories represented under one corporate roof.
One angler might enter the booth looking for a finesse bait. Another might be interested in crankbaits, spinnerbaits, jerkbaits, swimbaits or jigs. GSM had something new to show nearly all of them.
That created constant traffic and conversation.
While some booths depended on one major launch, GSM could generate multiple stories for retailers, media members, content creators and anglers.
More Than One Moment
True ICAST dominance is not necessarily determined by winning one award.
Awards matter, but the companies that truly control the show are the ones that repeatedly appear in conversations, videos, retailer coverage and product previews across several categories.
That was GSM’s greatest strength in 2026.
The company did not need every angler to agree on one standout lure. It created enough quality products across enough trusted brands that nearly everyone could find something worth discussing.
The Yamamoto fan had something new.
The crankbait fisherman had something new.
The finesse angler had something new.
The jig and spinnerbait fisherman had something new.
That is how a company owns the show floor.
The Bottom Line
GSM Outdoors dominated ICAST 2026 because it combined scale with substance.
The company had the brand portfolio to command attention, but it also delivered the product depth necessary to hold that attention. Its strongest releases addressed real fishing situations, incorporated feedback from experienced anglers and reflected the growing influence of forward-facing sonar without allowing technology to become the entire story.
Most importantly, GSM showed that innovation does not always require abandoning the past.
Sometimes it means taking a proven idea, correcting its weaknesses and rebuilding it for the way anglers fish today.
At ICAST 2026, GSM Outdoors did that across multiple brands and multiple lure categories.
It did not simply bring more products.
It brought more products that fishermen will actually use.
And that is why GSM dominated ICAST 2026.
