It’s those surgical swings that comprise the final 50-yards between you and the cup, managed by specialized short range clubs to chip, pitch, maybe flop, and ultimately, putt. The jointed hardbait isn’t easily classified, either, given its multifaceted game. “The JxJ’s open classification is a bonus,” explained Martin. “It agitates on the surface like a topwater but also pushes water like a wakebait.” Unlike the average micro jerkbait, the JxJ Minnow sports a wakebait-style bill, which moves an arc of water on a straight retrieve, while its jointed rearend slithers like a snake. Move the bait with some authority, and it goes modestly subsurface while the swimming motion intensifies. The JxJ Minnow’s swimming action is novel as well. “The jointing is off center by design,” explained Martin. “Having more body on the front keeps it stable and tracking straight with a tight wobble, while the lighter backend and its feathered tail kick like hell, even on a slow retrieve. The combined action is awesome.” This beautiful balance is further fortified with precision placed tungsten weights. The JxJ Minnow’s architecture is significant as well. A durable and chip-resistant paintjob stays intact over its textured, scaled body. The wakebait-style bill is equally robust, as is the jointing apparatus between the front and rear sections. The bait is finished with an aggressive #8 hook on the belly and feathered #10 on its rear.
